We support: FuturICT: FP7 ICT, FET Flagship Initiative: FuturICT Knowledge Accelerator Goals: The FuturICT flagship proposal intends to unify hundreds of the best scientists in Europe in a 10 year 1 billion EUR program to explore social life on earth and everything it relates to. The FuturICT flagship proposal will produce historic breakthroughs and provide powerful new ways to manage challenges that make the modern world so difficult to predict, including the financial crisis. Status: proposal in preparation
SAPERE: FP7 ICT Call-5, FET proactive, Goal 8.5: Self-Awareness in Autonomic Systems Goals: The objective of SAPERE is the development of a highly-innovative theoretical and practical framework for the decentralized deployment and execution of self-aware and adaptive services for future and emerging pervasive network scenarios. The framework will be grounded on a foundational re-thinking of current service models and of associated infrastructures and algorithms.
HC2: FP7 ICT Call-5, FET proactive, Goal 8.4: Human Computer Confluence Goals: HCC, Human-Computer Confluence, is an ambitious research program studying how the emerging symbiotic relation between humans and computing devices can enable radically new forms of sensing, perception, interaction, and understanding. HCC is set to produce profound technological and social impact. It is also a deeply interdisciplinary field, spanning a wide range of areas: from the cognitive sciences to computer science,...
SOCIONICAL: FP7 ICT Call-3, FET proactive / Goal 8.4: Science of complex systems for socially intelligent ICT Goals: There are a number of projects that acknowledge the tight entanglement between social and technical systems. SOCIONICAL differs from these project in that it jointly deals with complex systems at three levels: (i) Interacting social entities; (ii) Interacting technical entities; (iii) Interacting socio-technical entities.
OPPORTUNITY: FP7-ICT-2007-C, FET open Goals: The project aims at developing mobile systems to recognize human activity with dynamically varying sensor setups. We refer to such systems as opportunistic, since they take advantage of sensing modalities that just happen to be available, rather than forcing to deploy specific, application dependent sensor systems. Partners: ETH Zurich, UoPassau, IDIAP Status: started February 1st, 2009
PANORAMA: FP7 ICT Call-2, FET proactive / Goal 8.3: Pervasive Adaptation Goals: The goal of PANORAMA is to bring together the wide range of researchers in the Pervasive Adaptation field to build a new community of researchers in the Pervasive Adaptation field who can work together on common goals, so ensuring that the research carried out by members of that community is integrated, coordinated and informed.

PowerIT: FFG Call: FIT-IT Embedded Systems & Semiconductors, 2nd Call Goals: This project will investigate on potentials to reduce energy inefficiency by the development of methods and solutions based on implicit user interaction. Methodologically, it will attempt to exploit opportunistic sensor configurations to establish context information, in order to avoid standby losses of electronic equipment, machines and appliances.
Power Saver: FFG Call: Neue Energien 2020 (klima+energie fonds) Goals: The PowerSaver research project proposes a power management solution based on sensors for activity and context recognition, in order to avoid standby losses of electronic equipment, machines and appliances. It builds on an automatic (or implicit) switching of stand-by modes of these devices, based on the recognized or anticipated situation (rather then forcing users to explicitly switch among those modes).
