Thermal Imaging for Emotional State Recognition
Bakk-/Masterarbeit vom 10. Oktober 2011; offen
Problem definition, Approach:
Implicit interaction using the emotional state of a person is a promising approach to improve HCI Statement: Emotional state of a person is correlated with his/her body surface temperature
measurement taken with thermal IR (infrared) camera
applied technology: FLIR (forward looking infra red)
Measurement experiments with factor variation different pieces of music, still images, movies continuously record thermal image evaluation & interpretation: potential/influence
Expected outcome:
- Early recognition of emotional states based on body surface temperature (automatic reactions)
- Personal adaptation ("like/dislike stimulation")
- Gesture, movement detection
- etc.
Prerequesites:
- Interested in prototyping, software development
- good programming skills (Java, C/C++/C#)
- User Study: Setup and carry out the experiment
- Good command of English (understanding of related work; Thesis is preferred written in English)
- Typesetting using LaTeX (--> Miktex, TeXnicCenter) + BibTeX (-->Jabref)
Time schedule:
- Start: flexible, as of now
- Estimated completion date: within 12 months
