Goals: The objective of this project is the research and development of crowd safety solutions in the domain of (urban) mass events. It was found that many crowd disaster - such as the 2012 Duisburg Loveparade disaster - could have been avoided given better management structures and warning systems. The project aims to develop a complete solution to support event organizers and rescue forces in detecting and counteracting potential dangerous situations in the domain of (urban) mass events.

Goals: This industrial research project with RECTICEL Schlafkomfort GmbH -Schlaraffia addresses the problem of getting the right sleeping product according to the body shape. The aim of the project was to develop a body classifier. The approach that is used in this project is depth image sensor data as input for body classification algorithms. This contact free body measurement solution is steering the product recommendation for the customer. The research and development effort got integrated into an interactive public display system. Finally the project outcome was a batch production of public display (recommender) systems of this kind. The finished product was delivered in several European countries.

With DigiScope, the user is handling a holographic display tablet just like a six degrees of freedom window that opens a view into the virtual world. The tablet is an optical see-through display which allows for a very natural viewing and scene inspection.
